A BD refresher for your partners

How can your partners refresh their approach to business development to win more and better work?

For a multitude of different reasons, partners can sometimes need to take a step back and refresh the way they approach business development.

It may be that the composition and focus of their key markets have changed.

It may be because key clients no longer require your services.

It may be that they had to pass their clients to colleagues while they attended to their managerial responsibilities on behalf of the partnership.

Whatever the reason, there is still a requirement for every partner to bring in work both for themselves and their teams and if this has recently become more difficult, Tenandahalf can help.

How will Tenandahalf help your partners refresh their approach to business development?

For us, successful business development comes down to focus, confidence and action:

1. Focus

Focusing on the sources of new work that are most likely to generate results, on the activities most likely to yield the best results (and the activities that suit you best) and focusing your time and effort on what actually wins work.

2. Confidence

Having the confidence to choose the right contacts, activities, events and marketing channels that will put you in the best possible position to win new work and new introductions and having the confidence to approach and leverage these opportunities in the right way.

3. Action

Knowing what to do next and having the personal support you need to successfully put all your business development ideas into action.

How do we deliver focus, confidence and action in a simple, structured BD training programme for lawyers and accountants?

Our refresher programme has been created using more than 15 years of experience of coaching lawyers, accountants, patent and trade mark attorneys and barristers.

It covers all the areas we know contribute to creating a balanced and, more importantly, effective approach to business development.

It is delivered in six 90 minute 1on1 sessions, each of which would be a fortnight apart either at your offices, at our Chancery Lane office or via Teams or Zoom and any additional support needed between the sessions will be provided (free of charge) by email and/or phone.

What does our BD refresher for partners cover?

Session 1            Focus

How to create your own personal value proposition and choosing the niches you want to pursue.

Session 2            ‘It’s all about relationships’

How to get closer to your existing clients and contacts; what a good meeting/coffee/lunch looks like and how to follow up to convert conversations into the work you want

Session 3            Thought leadership

How to create content that will position yourself as a go to professional and how to leverage this to maximise the impact it has on your target market/s

Session 4            Social Media

Session 5            Networking

Session 6            Presentation skills

How to present with influence and impact – we’ll explain how to structure and deliver more engaging talks and how to add in the ‘calls to action’ and follow up steps that create opportunities

How much does the BD refresher for partners cost?

This programme is delivered for a fixed fee of £2000 (+ VAT) per partner, £1000 on instruction and £1000 on completion.

We aim to complete the programme in 3 months (partner’s diary dependent).

The Tenandahalf guarantee:

If your partners are not completely satisfied with progress by the half-way point of the programme (session 3), you can stop the programme immediately without having to pay any of the second instalment.

Another of the other very popular courses we run is presentation skills training for accountants.

We engaged Size 10½ Boots to design and deliver a coaching project as part of our Management Development Programme. The aim of the project was to assist our Associates and Directors to improve their business development skills. The project has been extremely successful.  They were approachable, amiable and extremely knowledgeable about business development, specifically in our sector and quickly built a rapport with the fee earners concerned. We have already started to see positive results as a result of Doug and Bernard’s efforts.
